AMUG Sydney have a simple, but extremely well implemented online ordering system for purchasing Disc of the Month titles.

Any Apple User Group participating in the Disc of the Month project or that have any other merchandise for sale may want to take a look at the AMUG site.

The AMUG Sydney Online Ordering Page simply lists the titles of the Discs, with these been linked to the Promotional PDFs, so people can find out more about the individual titles. Once they’ve looked at the details, members can then order the Disc(s) they are interested in simply by clicking on a button. The order total is automatically calculated as you add titles.

The purchasers name, address and other contact details are then entered in. You can then select to send a cheque or money order to AMUG Sydney, or easier still, head over to a PayPal ordering system, which allowing you to use make a secure online payment using a Credit Card, Debit Card or Direct Bank Transfer; or from the balance in your PayPal account if you have one. It is not even necessary to have a PayPal account if using credit/debit card or bank transfer payment methods.

AMUG Sydney have divided the Discs into a couple of tabbed-pages, making it easy to navigate, without been overwhelmed by a long list of titles. The good thing though is order totals are carried over between the tabs, making it simpe to order multiple discs.

They have even set the system up so AMUG members can order the Discs at their special member pricing, and a separate system for non-members to order at the standard Recommended Retail Pricing.

I really like the way that access to the ‘product descriptions’ and the ordering all exist on a single page that leads to a logical work flow.

The pages for ordering Discs that AMUG Sydney have setup is a great model for other Apple User Groups to work from if they want to establish their own Online Ordering system for the Discs of the Month or any other merchandise they wish to sell to their members, or the wider public.
